Providing practical, social and emotional support to
children and young people with cancer and
related illnesses, their families, friends and those bereaved.
At Team Jak Foundation we call our wonderful volunteers Ambassadors and we would not be where we are today or indeed in the future without their support.
As an Ambassador there are different roles in which you can help the charity. These are mentioned below.
Awareness days involve manning a stand with Team Jak merchandise and collection buckets in supermarkets, schools, colleges, shopping centres, concerts and other events.
Sometimes we have various money making items on our stall including a Tombola, Guess the Doll’s Birthday, Magic squares and other items.
Team Jak hosts a number of events throughout the year that we need help at such as Football collections, The Jak Trueman Challenge Cup, Arts and Craft Sessions, the annual Children’s Christmas Party. All of these events can only run smoothly with the help of our wonderful Ambassadors.
Volunteering at the Den can be rewarding for everyone. Anything from welcoming visitors, playing with the children while they are in the Den, to making tea and coffee, talking with parents, sorting out merchandise bags, cleaning, doing dishes and preparing items for events are all much needed jobs and ones we are huely grateful we can get our Ambassadors to do.
These are not easy days to come by but when we get the chance to collect in a store it would involve you packing customers shopping for a couple of hours.
The process for becoming an Ambassador for Team Jak involves an interview at Jak Den where you will be given a Volunteer form and welcome pack, and the option to purchase a t-shirt.
Once successfully interviewed we will require two references and we will help you complete a PVG if over 18 or parental consent form if under 18.
Upon this being completed we will then hold a Induction/training session to introduce you to Team Jak and then on return of your references and PVG from Disclosure Scotland you can start to volunteer with Team Jak.
Team Jak have an Awards scheme called TJ Stars and we hold a yearly event dedicated to our Volunteers where we celebrate their success and thank them by recognising our Ambassadors and what they have achieved with us.
As an Ambassador you can work towards your Duke of Edinburgh Award and other volunteering awards including Jazz and Saltire and you may want to get involved in the YPI Project through your school and choose Team Jak.
If volunteering sounds like something you would like to get involved in please complete the form below or email email@example.com more information.
